Hi, I'm Dawn! Welcome to Rainbow Dawn Photography. I'm a mom of four, wife, Certified Nurse Midwife, and photographer. My favorite color is rainbow. My favorite food is chocolate. I love live music, so much so my wedding was at a music festival 10 years ago!

As a nurse and Nurse Midwife, I've been privileged to help countless families during pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond, for nearly a decade. In addition to being a nurse midwife, I’m currently completing a post-graduate program to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. My plan is to specialize in perinatal (pregnant and postpartum) mental health. In the small bits of free time I’ve had over the years, I started photography as a hobby, yearning to document and convey the beauty and magic I get to experience as a midwife and as a mom.

As my hobby grew, so did my family. The demands of raising four children while working as a midwife became very challenging to do simultaneously. In 2020, a few months into the pandemic, I decided to take a step back from working as a midwife, and stay home with my children full-time...for the time being. This decision was incredibly difficult, to say the least. My passion for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and supporting families runs deep and certainly did not wane after leaving my midwifery position. I knew I still wanted to be able to support people during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. Thus, I turned my photography hobby into a photography business.

Though I am obviously not able to support clients clinically with my camera, I am able to support them in other ways. I provide photography clients with the same compassionate and empathetic emotional support as I did for my midwifery clients. I am

able to make my clients feel comfortable, and safe, allowing me to document the most important, and often most vulnerable, parts of their lives. Photography allows me to provide visual documentation of the client’s story, that can be cherished for years to come, and passed along as a family heirloom for future generations.
